Friday Food Tour  11.07.14

Finally Friday! It seemed like the weekend would never get here, am I right? Sheesh. We're heading out of town for a quick day trip tomorrow to visit old friends (well, THEY aren't that old, we've just known them for a long time), but if you're going to be in town, don't forget that Iowa's Premier Beer, Wine, & Food Expo is going on! I'm pretty sure you could have some fun there. But let's get to the Friday Food Tour...

Grant makes some awesome soup and he loves to try soup in most restaurants we visit, so this post from Cityview's Food Dude will be of utmost interest to him. Check out the Scoop on Soup!

We truly try to put our support behind locally owned restaurants, so I love the Why Eat at a Chain Wednesday posts on Des Moines is Not Boring. And this one featuring The Cheese Shop of Des Moines gives everyone a great look at their wonderful toasties - yum.

The craft beer scene in Iowa is exploding, as you know, and it was nice to see an Iowa beer blog, Yeast, Love, & Hoppiness, feature Iowa beer. You'll love Greg's 5 Favorite Iowa Breweries

One of Grant's favorite little cheats is using Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix - he usually adds a little something, but he loves those little boxes of cornbread. Here's another blogger who does the same thing - and you'll want to try this recipe for Cheddar & Chive Cornbread from Food & Swine.

I'm not much for shots when it comes to drinking, but if you are, wouldn't you like to be able to Drink Your Booze and Eat It Too? Drinking in America shows us what edible shot glasses are all about. Crazy!

Have a happy weekend.
