Well, hi! It's been awhile, hasn't it? What started off as a little break over the holidays turned into a 5 month hiatus for Iowa Foodie! And I won't lie, it was soooooo nice. As you may notice from all of the food blogs that don't post anymore, blogging is a ginormous time suck. I'll admit that I was a little burned out from writing posts, editing photos, and keeping up with social media. But, I realized that I still do enjoy the process of food blogging, so here we go again! We're going to change things up a bit - posts won't be as long, we're introducing a few new categories, changing focus a bit - but Iowa Foodie will continue to enjoy the local (and regional) food scene and bring you all the fun right here. So, let's get at it!

We were delighted when the Des Moines City Council gave the go ahead for food trucks to expand their presence in the metro - the food truck culture is so fun in other cities across the country that we can only hope our local food trucks can catch up!

I'm a french fry fanatic, so I was very excited to catch up with Powered by Fries on a recent Sunday afternoon at Confluence Brewing Company in Des Moines.

We got ourselves a couple of great local brews and had a look at the menu - some tasty stuff here!

We decided to go the purist route and ordered a large fries with ketchup and mayo so I could whip up some fry sauce and enjoy these wonderful fries. They were exactly like the side of the truck proclaims - crispy outside, fluffy inside. You can really enjoy the delicious potato flavor!

Our fries were gone in a flash, but we will definitely be visiting this food truck again soon to try one of the specialty fry combinations. You can check out the Powered by Fries website here - they always have their schedule posted so you'll know where you can meet up with some awesome fries.

We're looking forward to trying many more food trucks in the DSM area, so stay tuned!
