We both love seafood and if you do too, Waterfront Seafood Market & Restaurant is the place to be. A family owned business with locations in West Des Moines and Ankeny, Waterfront Seafood Market has been providing the Des Moines area with the finest quality fish and seafood for 26 years.

We visited the Ankeny location recently.

With an oyster bar, an extensive sushi menu, and several fresh fish specials daily, it's hard to decide what to order! So we had some vodka tonics and took our time perusing the menu.

They feature a large variety of appetizers, lots of fried specialty baskets, sandwiches and po-boys, and the entrees include all types of fish from rainbow trout to walleye to shrimp and lobster. We placed our order and soon our soup and salad arrived.

Grant enjoyed the Clam Chowder, a favorite of his at the Waterfront. And yes, Grant loves pepper.

I went for the salad with house-made Creamy Parmesan dressing. I glopped quite a bit on my salad too but c'mon! - it's creamy parmesan. They also serve an excellent sourdough bread with dinner.

For an entree, Grant ordered the Seafood Platter with lobster tail, grilled scallops and grilled shrimp. He also enjoyed a nice baked sweet potato on the side.

I decided on the Coconut Shrimp and it was an excellent choice. That dipping sauce was sooo good.

We enjoyed a nice bottle of 2007 Terra Antiga white wine from Portugal.

We've never been disappointed with any of our meals at the Waterfront Seafood Market & Restaurant. Everything is fresh and the service is great. Each location also offers a market area for you to take your favorite fish or shellfish home with you. Don't forget to let us know your favorites at the Waterfront!
